G10. The main function of an engine valve is to open and close rapidly. This
allows the air and fuel charge to enter the combustion chamber and after
ignition, the exhaust valve allows the waste gases to flow out into the
exhaust system. Each cylinder has at least one intake and one exhaust valve.
Good engine performance depends on valve condition. Worn guides or stems and
burned or badly seated valves allow gas to escape under compression, resulting
in poor starting and loss of power. Symptoms of a bad or failing engine valve:
engine misfire, excessive oil consumption. Be sure to have your engine valves
replace with aftermarket replacement engine valves as soon as it starts to
give you trouble.
